The first trip back to Japan since the pandemic. It was a mix of a place I know well, a place I sort of know, and a place I have no idea about.
Tokyo - a place I know well
Spending the new year in Tokyo after four (five?) years gives me a warm feeling even in the dead of winter. Went to places old and new, but here I wanted to be in the comfort of familiarity.

Kanazawa - a place I sort of know
The last time I was in Kanazawa it felt very rushed and so I wanted to take my time and spend three days in this beautiful city, with easily the best hotel I’ve stayed in during this trip.

Lake Suwa - a place I have no idea about
It was by chance that I spotted a blue spot in the middle of the mountains in google maps, but what a blue spot it was. This was the most I’m out of depth during this trip, but honestly, I wished I could have spent an additional day here.
